Diagnostic tests
Do you suffer from sleep apnea?

If you feel like your sleep is being disturbed and isn’t as restful as it should be, you may be suffering from sleep apnea. It is important to have this health problem diagnosed by a specialist as soon as possible, since it can have a significant impact on your quality of life.

The different diagnostic tests offered at La boite à CPAP

Overnight oximetry

Overnight oximetry involves recording the blood’s oxygen saturation during the night. It is mainly prescribed for children. This test is not comprehensive enough to diagnose sleep apnea but is typically prescribed by doctors for a quick first impression of the quality of oxygenation during sleep. A negative examination cannot conclude the absence of sleep apnea, especially if symptoms are present. In this case, cardiorespiratory polygraphy is recommended.

Cardiorespiratory polygraphy

Cardiorespiratory polygraphy is a home examination that records respiratory flow, respiratory movements, blood oxygen saturation and pulse during sleep. This diagnostic test is used for 90% of SAHS. A negative examination cannot rule out sleep apnea if symptoms are present. In this case, a full polysomnography in a laboratory is recommended to examine brain activity and leg movements during sleep.
